The genesis of Em & M Espadrilles came about from a casual conversation between two friends, Emily ("Em) and Mira ("M"). Both were looking for a modern version of the classic espadrille and when they could not find what they were looking for, they decided to design, create and market these shoes themselves.

Once peasant footwear worn in the French and Spanish Pyrenees, espadrilles have grown in popularity where many men and women wear them during the spring and summer months. The casual and comfortable style of espadrilles has been handed down through the generations and remains popular to this day. The classic espadrille has a canvas upper, a jute rope sole and a hand-stitched toe.

Em & M Espadrilles are modern yet traditional. We were inspired by the old Jacques Cohen shoes yet incorporated our own design as well. Em&M Espadrilles strived to create a shoe that is comfortable, stylish, inexpensive, casual and durable. These espadrilles are made of 100% high quality cotton canvas with a 2.25" wedge heel, full rubber vulcanized sole and a hand-stitched toe. Available colors are black and lavender and come in US women's sizes 7, 8 and 9 or European women's sizes 38, 39 and 40.
